The Comfort of LutfuLlah

I am growing to appreciate the power of documenting my thoughts and memories.

As I write this, I’m even more grateful for the ability to document some of my supplications.

Allah’s blessings on us are countless, and they go beyond any du’a that we make for ourselves. But reflecting on them and seeing how they have been answered makes me realise how much I take for granted.

Sometimes, it takes a while to notice these blessings, especially when they are subtle or have become a part of our everyday life.

In the design world, there is a saying that “good, clean design is often not noticed, but bad design is.”

This supports the fact that we tend to overlook things when they’re going smoothly. How often do you pay attention to how you respire — in and out?

Going back to the importance of documenting our du’a, it’s a beautiful thing to see that Allahﷻ never forgets and is always kind to us.

He accepts the prayers of His trusting servants, no matter how long it takes for them to be answered.

So, when your hope falters and your faith wavers, calm your heart with this knowledge of lutfuLlah — the kindness of Allahﷻ.

Take comfort in the mercy of answered prayers.

Giving Freely, Receiving Gracefully

Continuing on the theme of kindness, I want to discuss giving charity and how it can increase Allah’s pleasure with us.

When people say to “give things for no reason or be kind for no reason”, I understand it as not being kind because you owe it to them, or because you expect something in return from them.

This is because I don’t believe in being kind for no reason.

We sin too much, express little gratitude, and have limited time on this earth. Therefore, we should seize every opportunity to seek Allah’s pleasure.

Give out what you have to people for a reason — because Allah is Al Mu’ti, the Giver and He loves those who give with kindness — because our Prophet Muhammadﷺ was the kindest and most generous of all humans.

Allahﷻ specifically states that when we give to others from what He has given us, we are loaning to Him.

“Who is it that would loan Allāh a goodly loan so He will multiply it for him and he will have a noble reward?”Q 57:11

And just like when you lend someone something, Allahﷻ repays us for our charity.

The beauty of loaning to Allah is that what we receive is far greater than anything we could give.

So, let’s be charitable and remember that giving is not limited to wealth alone. We should offer whatever we have been blessed with, for the sake of Allahﷻ.

This is an investment that we can be certain of profiting from, both in this life and the hereafter.
